my work isn’t
finished until a
piece can speak
for itself.
– Mauro Staltari –
about me
Mauro Staltari is an architect and ceramic artist based in zurich.
born and raised in switzerland with neapolitan and calabrian roots, he works at the intersection of form, function, and sculpture.
his first encounter with clay came as a child during a school week dedicated to crafts. the moment when a shapeless mass of clay turned into something lasting through fire stayed with him. many years later, he returned to the studio with the trained eye of an architect — to explore the space between craft and art anew.
in his atelier, he creates works in small series and as unique pieces. each bears the traces of process, fire, and time. his goal is for every piece to find its own voice

the mark
every piece carries a red circle — most often at its base — the defining mark of studio staltari. the color recalls the fire that completes the work. the circle reflects the wheel, the point where every form begins
